28 April: International Workers’ Memorial Day

On 28 April 2015, European trade unions will remember the 100,000 people who die from occupational cancers every year. According to a Euractiv article, the unions accuse the EU Commission of not protecting workers from chemicals which cause cancers, due to suspended work on the necessary legislation.

To mark International Workers’ Memorial Day on 28 April, the ETUC will meet with European Parliament President Martin Schulz and EU Commissioner for Employment Marianne Thyssen in Strasbourg.
