On 16-17 June 2026, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) hosted an online Stakeholder Workshop on the New CLP Hazard Classes for Endocrine Disruptors for Human Health and the Environment.
At the workshop, the EDC-Free Europe coalition partners Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), CHEM Trust and Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Europe jointly presented on “CLP ED hazard classes – A crucial step towards higher protection for European citizens and the environment from EDCs”.
The EU’s rules for classifying and labelling the hazards of substances (CLP) were updated in 2023 to enable the classification of EDCs as well as persistent chemicals (PBT, vPvB and PMT, vPvM).
The classification of EDCs under CLP is an important first step forward towards better protection of people and environment against the exposure to these chemicals, for example by improved transparency in the supply chain and more information for workers and the public. Classification also facilitates taking EU regulatory measures to limit and prohibit the use of EDCs.
